According to Italian football expert Gianluca Di Marzio, Spanish giants Barcelona have lodged an official bid for Borussia Dortmund starlet Ousmane Dembele.

In demand

20-year-old Dembele enjoyed a stellar first season in Germany, cementing himself, alongside French teammate Kylian Mbappe, as one of world football’s most coveted young stars.

Having joined up with (now-departed) Thomas Tuchel’s side last summer from Rennes, Dembele was seen as a raw talent who had a long way to go before proving himself as a genuine star.

However, a return of 10 goals and a staggering 21 assists in his debut campaign has left Europe’s top sides scrambling for the services of the wing wizard.

Bid made

And, as per the aforementioned report from highly-reliable journalist Gianluca Di Marzio this evening, Barcelona have opened the bidding for Dembele with an offer of 70 million Euro plus bonuses.

The report also claims that the offer will not be enough to entice Dortmund into a sale, though Barca are ready to up their bid in the wake of Neymar’s world-record departure for PSG.
