S&O Wing wins PDD Cricket Premier T-20 trophy

JAMMU: System and Operation (S&O) XI lifted PDD Premier League T20 2017 Cricket Cup, organised by Power Development Department (PDD) at Green Field, Gandhi Nagar.
In the final played on Sunday, S&O XI thrashed EM&RE Direction Office by 21 runs.
Batting first after winning the toss, S&O XI set a target of 163 runs for the loss of six wickets in 20 overs. Manoj played a knock of 66 runs off 44 ball with the help of three boundaries and seven sixes followed by Vishal who also played well scoring 47 runs off 28 balls hitting three boundaries and five sixes. Kailash made 22 off 20 balls. For EM&RE Direction Office, Darshan and Bunty shared two wickets each. In reply, EM&RE Direction Office failed to chase the target and was bowled out for 142 runs in 18.5 overs. Surinder with 28, Varinder and Jagdish 22 each and Yuvraj 21 runs were the main scorers.
For S&O XI, Ajit Singh was wrecker-in-chief, who claimed four wickets while Vishal grabbed three.
Today’s final was officiated by the Technical Panel including Sadiq Hussain, Rajinder Singh, Rajiv Gupta, Sanjeev Puri and S.K Tikko.
The matches in the tournament were officiated by Sardari Lal, B.S Chib, M.P Singh, R.P Manjotra, Ajaz Kazmi, Munish Chib, Raghu Singh, Sanjeev Bau Gurdeep Bhalla, Ajay Bahadur Singh, Rajinder Kumar, Kaushal Kumar and Avinash Uttam.
The tournament was spread over a period of one week, in which more than six teams of various wings of PDD participated.
The aim of organising the tournament was to create awareness and spread message among people about energy conservation.
Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Nirmal Singh was the Chief Guest and Chief Engineer System and Operation Wing Jammu S.K Zutshi was Guest of Honour at the valedictory function.
The other prominent guests included, Superintending Engineer Circle-2 Jammu Ashwani Sachdeva, Nodal Office PDD Jammu Sanjay Sharma and other senior officers of PDD besides and a large number of sportspersons.
Dr. Nirmal Singh also gave away trophies and awards to the winner, runner-up and participating teams.
He impressed upon the PDD employees to participate in sports which would make them physically and mentally strong and enable them to give best to their profession.
He congratulated the participating teams and said that winning and losing is not important but the most important aspect in the life is to come forward and be a part of competition.
Dr. Nirmal Singh appealed to the public to save electricity in their day to day life for development and growth of the State. He further said that the State Government has taken several initiatives to expand the electricity access to the uncovered areas and provide 24×7 power supply to all households in the State.
Manoj of System Operation Wing team was declared as the best batsman while Darshan as best bowler of tournament.
