Australia'a all-rounder Daniel Christian set the IPL auction abuzz with Deccan Chagrers picking him up for a whopping $900,000 in Bangalore on Sunday.
To put things in perspective, Mr Cricket Michael Hussey fetched just $ 425,000 while Zaheer Khan, the Indian pace spearhead also went for $900,000.
All-rounders have always been the biggest draw in IPL and the teams were ready to splurge when Christian's name came up.
On an otherwise slow bidding day, the room was abuzz with many teams going for the Australian.
DC owner Gayathri Reddy said they were quite intent on buying Christian and didn't really mind paying a lot of money for him as he was worth it.
Christian, who currently plays for South Australia, has had a stint in T20 with the national side and is considered to be one of the better all-rounders Down Under.
He has a strike rate of 135 in domestic T20 competitions and has a good average of 21.4 with his right arm medium fast bowling.
A part of the Australian World Twenty20 squad, Christian was part of the side that won the Under-19 World Cup in 2001-02 and has come from Cricket Australia's indigenous cricket programme.
The 27-year-old has an Aboriginal heritage belonging to the Wiradjuri tribe in New South Wales.
Christian used to play as a top-order batsman for NSW before he made a move to SA to enhance his career.
